ČEZ is interested in keeping blocks in Dukovany running at least until 2035

Power utility ČEZ is strategically interested in keeping the blocks in Dukovany nuclear power plant running at least until 2035. This was stated by ČEZ’s Production division director Ladislav Štěpánek at the conference held by the Civic Safety Commission in the power plant. Mr. Štěpánek has also noted the bad economic situation on the electroenergetic market and the need for cut production costs. The chairwoman of the State Office for Nuclear Safety, Dana Drábová, has stated that the authority is ready to award a new licence or prolong the power plant’s existing licence. The licence will, however, be bound by strictly set terms for nuclear safety.
