Prague College hosts Tomas Brousil and Radek Sidun

Prague College Visiting artists and lecture series

Prague College, one of the Czech Republic’s leading English language universities, is delighted to announce the second of its ‘Visiting Artist and Lecture Series’ for 2015, which will take place from 6pm on Thursday, November 5th, in the College’s Bishop’s Court (Biskupsky Dvur) premises.

The first of the speakers at this event will be the well-known typographer Tomáš Brousil, A graduate from the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, he founded Suitcase Type Foundry in 2003 in order for it to serve as an outlet for his creative work. He will discuss the development of his company, the Suitcase Type Foundry and his contribution to a number of typographic projects.

He is joined by typographic designer Radek Sidun, who specializes in the design and use of diacritics in world languages. As a result of this very specialised expertise, Radek is a sought-after consultant to international font designers and foundries, and he has received several awards for his projects, including a gold medal at the European Design Awards 2013.

Talking about this next ‘Visiting Artists’ event, Douglas Hajek, Director and Founder of Prague College said: “It is really important to us that we offer our students the opportunity to meet and learn from young and successful professionals on a regular basis, as what better way to motivate them to work hard at their studies than to see how their own education can result in such success. The two artists that we are welcoming on the 5th November are wonderful examples of talented professionals that have studied hard and gone on to make successful business entrepreneurs as well as artists, and we are honoured to be able to introduce them to our students.”

The ‘Visiting Artists’ series is open to both students and the general public, and entrance is free. To find out more about this and other events, go to www.praguecollege.cz.
