OpenCall mobile announces new cooperation with O2 Czech Republic

Mobile virtual network operator OpenCall will be greatly improving its services as of July 1 when it will launch new cooperation with O2 Czech Republic.

Customers acquiring a new OpenCall SIM Card powered by O2 will be able to make calls or transfer data anywhere that O2 has coverage.

As a result of the new cooperation, customers will be able to have access to an enhanced product with higher quality but enjoy the same low price.

“After successful and positive negotiations with O2, we are very pleased to announce that our service will be greatly improved while we will also maintain the same low prices. Improving our coverage and data services has been a long-term goal since OpenCall began in 2013. OpenCall is an MVNO brand, but will now offer the same level of service as a main network operator,” said Vincent Charollais, CEO of DH Telecom, which manages OpenCall for O2.

OpenCall will continue to maintain its own multilingual customer support services. “Our level of customer satisfaction is already above average, and we look forward to achieving even higher levels in the near future,” Vincent Charollais, added.

“Our goal is to cooperate with strong players in the market of virtual operators who provide excellent customer care. Cooperation with OpenCall fits clearly into this strategy, because it is the market leader of virtual operators providing services to foreigners living in the Czech Republic,” said Kateřina Pospíšilová, Director of Strategy and Regulation in O2.

Options to top up the phone with more credit will also be increased and simplified with the new service. Customers can continue to top up online and now can also top up at any place that serves O2 customers. Using Sazka outlets, found in many shops and magazine stands, will also become easier, as a special bar-code card will no longer be needed, just the phone number as an O2 client.

Difficulty with topping up had been a shortcoming previously, so the improved options are another bonus for clients.

OpenCall will also offer much larger monthly data packages, up to three gigabytes, which is triple what they now offer, and OpenCall clients will no longer have to manually configure their phone's APN to use data services.

At the same time, OpenCall will continue to maintain some of the lowest international calling prices per minute.

OpenCall offers low price calling not only in the Czech Republic, at CZK 1 per minute, but also low prices to neighboring Austria, Germany, Poland and Slovakia at CZK 1.80 per minute. Calls to other countries worldwide are also among the lowest on the Czech market.

Customer service by OpenCall will also continue to be provided in multiple languages including English, Czech, German, French, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Vietnamese, making the service ideal for expats and people working temporarily in the Czech Republic who do not want to get tied up in a long-term service contract.

OpenCall is also popular with people who have friends and relatives working in other countries, as keeping in touch on a regular basis using the OpenCall service is a cheap way of staying in touch.

Existing clients will receive information from OpenCall on how to obtain a new SIM card for the improved service and also on how to keep their existing phone number. Customers will have a migration period of several months after the launch to change their cards. However, customers can only take advantage of the improved coverage and data services when they have changed to a new SIM card.

OpenCall launched in September 2013 and now sold has over 130,000 SIM cards.
