Welcome to another week in Prague business, Easter is coming and we have one or two special surprises prepared.
In the news last week, the UN released a report calculating global average salaries. The Czech Republic was placed 25th out of the 72 countries assessed, higher than Poland, The Slovak Republic, Hungary and many more of our 'near neighbours'. While the data is not 100% conclusive, it does show that perhaps we're not so hard done by in the Czech Republic after all!
Interestingly, the World average salary was calculated to be 1480 Dollars, while the average salary in the Czech Republic was calculated much higher at 1786 Dollars. The highest average salary belongs to Luxembourg, weighing in with 4089 Dollars but, then, I expect we'd all choose to live in Prague rather than Luxembourg even if we earn less!
Prague itself also rated highly again in a European Union poll of the 'The Richest EU Regions' issued earlier in March. Prague ranked 7th in the list, actually falling from a high of fifth, polling higher than Vienna, Stockholm and Bremen.
While we may be facing many economic challenges, it's good to know that we're still punching above our weight in many areas.
A few weeks ago, we announced a competition to win prizes by registering for free on our PragueConnect.cz website. Many took up the opportunity and we're sure that you're keen to know who the winners were so...here they are!
